Braeburn
2.5.10
Thanks to Blackboard Eats, we received a 30% coupon to Braeburn, a restaurant on our list of places to eat in 2010. We jumped on the opportunity and made reservations for a Friday night late dinner.
We had read reviews that people were disappointed in the food and the place was too loud. However, much to our surprise, the place was fairly quiet when we walked in. There were a lot of tables for 2, a testament to the romantic atmosphere created by the restaurant's interior design. This West Village dating destination is located in one of my favorite neighborhoods in the city.
Once we sat down, we immediately ordered. We knew exactly what we wanted.
We shared...
Hand Rolled Ricotta Pasta- braised rabbit, bitter greens, mint, parmesan
He had...
Pan Roasted Beef Striploin with button mushrooms, garlic confit, crispy fingerling potatoes, madeira jus
I had...
Pan Roasted Chatham Cod with braised fennel, fregola sarda, mom & dad's meyer lemon vinaigrette
While the food was not life altering, it was good enough to make the meal very enjoyable. The steak was cooked just right (medium rare) and my favorite fish, the Chatham Cod, was served just the way I like it, with lemon vinaigrette.
After we finished the meal, we left with another 20% discount coupon. We may try to squeeze in Braeburn one more time before we finish our 2010 restaurant list or before the coupon expires!
