Friendly Approval

11.7.09 After we made it official, my friends were dying to meet the new boyfriend. So, I arranged a friendly dinner with my two close friends. We settled on a Japanese sushi restaurant, a default cuisine choice for first awkward meetings. Side note: In Korea, people either go to a steak house or sushi restaurant for the first date/ meeting. It's safe and neutral. The reason being, you don't want to go on a date where you are slurping all over your food (Chinese/ Italian cuisine) nor do you want to risk taking your date to a place where he/ she will have stinky breath afterward (most Korean foods). With that in mind, we wanted a place that was safe and neutral but still has good quality and quantity within walking distance from our home. Yes, we wanted it all. Thankfully, Yama is just around the corner from our apartments.

Once we got to Yama, we decided to share a bunch of rolls, Korean style. What better way to get friendly than to share food on the first date.

We shared....

Fried Oysters

Soft Shell Crab Roll

Spicy King Crab Roll – we got really crab happy

Tri-color Roll

I Like Eel

All in all, the food was great and my friends got acquainted with my new bf.
