Sunday Brunch...Asian Style

10.18.09

For Koreans, ramyun (ramen) is our comfort/ quick service meal. So, it was only suitable that we eat ramyun on a lazy Sunday morning. We headed to Kambi, a local ramyun joint in the East Village.

I had...

Kambi Sio Ramen

He had...

Wahoo Ramen

This place isn't a popular joint like Ippudo or Rai Rai Ken, but it's perfect enough for two people who are just craving good ol' ramyun.

I usually get the Miso Ramyun, but sometimes it gets very thick and dense with the salty paste. Instead, I opted for Sio Ramen. Sio is made from pork and chicken broth with a hint of salt & garlic roast flavor. His Wahoo Ramen is made from chicken broth, so it's a little less oily, but still full of flavors.

Although we love ramyun, we couldn't get far from our Korean roots. Half way into the meal, we asked for a side of kimchi.

If you're ever craving ramyun and can't get a table at Rai Rai Ken, Momofuku Noodle Bar or Ippudo, just walk a few blocks north and stop by Kambi.
