Bar Artisanal
1.23.10
There's a lot of restaurants in Tribeca. There are lots of noteworthy restaurants in Tribeca. Bar Artisanal? Not one of them.
We wanted to go to a brunch place that had smelly, savory cheese, cause those are the best kinds. We happen to come across Bar Artisanal, which offered an extensive cheese menu from all over the world. What we didn't know was that it only had good cheese to offer. Everything else on the menu was just bland or boring.
We ordered a wide variety of dishes to share, but the only thing that really caught my attention was the cheese plate.
We shared...Chickpea Frites, Onion Soup Artisanal, Valencay France goat cheese
He had...
Lamb Burger, goat cheese, rosemary aioli
And I ate...
Pappardelle, lamb Bolognese, olive tomato confit
The food was mediocre. Nothing special. The burger well cooked well, but not seasoned enough. The chickpea frites had potential to be a hit, but they covered the frites with salt, overwhelming the taste of the actual chickpea.
Let's just say I won't be returning to this restaurant unless I'm really craving French goat cheese and I can't find it anywhere else.
