Lovely Dinner @ Babbo
4.24.10
It's been awhile since I've posted anything on this blog, mainly cause we haven't been eating out. But, on my birthday, he planned a special dinner at Babbo.
As much as I anticipated this dinner, I went in with low expectations. I didn't know what to expect after years of attempting to make reservations.
At the restaurant, we decided to go with the pasta tasting menu where we could try a variety of pasta dishes at a reasonable price. Along with the pasta tasting menu, we celebrated my birthday with a wine pairing.
My oh my...the food was absolutely amazing. Each and every pasta dish had its own characteristic. I've never had pasta like this before. Now I know why people rave about Mario Batali's famous restaurant. The wine was also perfectly paired with each dish, complimenting the flavors of the pasta.

Seasonal Tasting Menu @ Le Cirque
4.14.10
It's been awhile since my boyfriend and I have been out on our usual gastronomical adventure. We've both been busy with work/ studying and have recently laid low. But, with all the discounted coupons from Blackboard Eats, Bloomspot, Groupon and Living Social, it was inevitable.
Thanks to Bloomspot's amazing deal, we had an opportunity to dine at Le Cirque to try the seasonal tasting menu for half the price. Despite recent reviews of the place losing its magical touch, I actually enjoyed the meal. The food was clean and savory.

French New Yorkers eat at Benoit
3.29.10
I thought Chinatown and K-town were the only places in Manhattan that didn't speak English, but I was wrong. Apparently, Benoit is the go-to place for French diners living/ visiting the city. I've never felt so out of place. Not only were we the only table that didn't speak French, but we were also the only table not drinking wine.
All in all, Benoit was average. The food was mediocore and the mood was so-so. Considering it's an Alain Ducasse restaurant, it wasn't up to par.

Happy Hump Day @ Dovetail
3.24.10
Wednesday is a tease. It's smack in the middle of the week and you still have 2 more work days. I always wish that Wednesday is a Thursday, or even better a Friday. Fortunately, I had something exciting waiting for me on this particular Wednesday that helped the week go by faster. The bf made reservations at Dovetail, a quaint, well-known and expensive restaurant in the upper west side.
When we walked into the restaurant, it felt a little stuffy. I thought I was walking into a hotel lounge. The lights were bright and the chairs looked like cookie cutter furniture. But, the food exceeded my expectations. Although we didn't eat a lot, I am eager to go back for a full course dinner...when I can afford it.

Hello Maine~
3.19-3.21
Maine is such an underrated state with so much to offer. Great lobster, beaches, and super friendly people. I've always heard that Maine has delicious seafood, but I didn't believe it, until this trip.
The mission of this trip was to relax and enjoy fresh seafood. And that's exactly what we did. The drive was a little far from NYC, but well worth it. We literally had seafood for breakfast, lunch and dinner. It was absolutely amazing! So fresh and best of all, cheap!

Marc Forgione

The last time we went to Tribeca, we loved the restaurant (Locanda Verde). We heard mixed reviews about the place, but we still wanted to check it out. It did help that we had a BBE 30% coupon.

Novita
3.11.10
We added Novita to our list of restaurants to try after Sifton (NY Times Food Critic) reviewed it recently. I was really excited because 1) I love Italian food and 2) I heard the waiters speak Italian to you, making it feel like you're in Italy.
